Michigan Loon Preservation Association

The Michigan Loon Preservation Assocation (MLPA) is an affiliate of Michigan Audubon, formed to protect Common Loons. The concern for loons arose because of a downtrend of loon numbers in our state. Causes of the decline in loon population include: lake development, pollution, and effects from invasive-exotic species.
Mission Statement:
The Michigan Loon Preservation Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve the Common Loon as a breeding bird in Michigan through public education, research and the protection and management of loons and their habitat.
