Birding Hot Spots

Metro Beach Metropark

A great migrant trap, this 770-acre park can provide hours of birding during migration. This park is home to some of the last marshes on Lake St. Clair, providing a refueling stop for migratory birds. There have been 277 species of birds recorded here, with 37 species of warblers. This park is another of the year-round good birding sites, but be aware that on good weather weekends in summer you have to contend with the many non-birders that use this multi-use recreational facility.

Contact: 1-800-477-3172 or visit www.metroparks.com/parks/index_all.aspx?ID=9

Location: Approximately 20 miles northeast of Detroit, east of I-94. *Note there is a Metroparks entry fee for this site. Find Metro Beach Metropark.
