Michigan Audubon, in conjunction with the U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service, hires a seasonal birding guide to lead Kirtland's Warbler tours for the public. These tours are free of charge and begin at the Ramada Inn in Grayling. After a brief introduction to the bird and the Jack-pine Habitat that it calls home, participants caravan to property owned by the State of Michigan for the chance to view this endangered warbler. Tours are scheduled daily at 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and begin May 15. The last day of tours is July 4. Reservations are only required for groups of more than 5 individuals. For additional information regarding the tours, contact Wendy Tatar at the Michigan Audubon office 517-886-9144.
