Frequently Asked Questions

General Conservation Questions

Michigan Audubon's mission is "Connecting Birds and People for the Benefit of Both". Historically, we have attempted to tackle a wide range of environmental issues. However as we channel our resources and efforts, we currently focus on bird conservation issues that have a direct impact on bird diversity, healthy bird populations, and habitat.

The following are some frequently asked questions about bird conservation and our sanctuaries. Go to our Site Policies page for more detailed information about our sanctuary policies.

For answers to more questions about helping birds, visit our Backyard Birders Frequently Asked Questions.

If you can not find the answer to your question here, you can submit a question to our conservation staff.

  • I want Michigan Audubon to help me with a local environmental concern by offering a letter of support / speaking at a meeting / engaging with our local group to solve this concern.

  • I want to provide access to my property for banding birds, releasing captive bred birds, releasing peregrine falcons, etc.

  • What is Michigan Audubon doing about West Nile?
