Over 60 extended Otis family members attended the "Reunion at Otis Farm 2009" over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Attendees were treated to many noticeable upgrades to both the house and the barn. Michigan Audubon hopes that the Otis Farm Bird Sanctuary will become a hub for conservation activity in Southwest Michigan, and the property is already recognized nationally by birders as a destination to find both Cerulean Warblers and Henslow's Sparrows. The old homestead, now occupied by the sanctuary's Resident Manager, will serve as an energy-efficiency demonstration home; the barn will become a three-season interpretation, celebration, and meeting space. Michigan Audubon wishes to thank members of the Otis Family who continue to support changes at the Otis Farm Bird Sanctuary.
