Michigan Audubon protects nearly 4,000 acres of bird habitat through our network of 20 sanctuary properties in Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas. Each property plays a critical role in protecting Michigan native plants and animals, including both endangered and threatened species.

Research

Michigan Audubon coordinates research efforts at Whitefish Point Bird Observatory, a premier migration hotspot in the Upper Peninsula. The Point witnesses a vast diversity of migrants and is home to numerous rare breeding birds. This Globally Important Bird Area has recorded over 340 bird species.
