Chapter Event – Woods & Stream Birding near Cross Village – Petoskey Regional Audubon Society
Friday, July 24, 2015, 10:00 am
Leaders: June Summers & Tracy Datlen
Details:
The owner (and new PRAS member) of this 100-acre pristine property of dense woods, wetland and stream has invited Petoskey Audubon members on a very special bird walk and nature outing. Due to the undisturbed nature of this property there are abundant native plants in addition to birds. On this walk we will focus on a short 1/2-mile loop near the stream and wetland. We will make frequent stops of about 15 minutes to allow the birds to come in to us. Bring a folding chair and/or spotting scope. The best birding at this location is stationary. There is a lot of birding by ear. The location is at a private home with limited parking. For directions and further details, please contact Tracy Datlen at [email protected]. Due to parking constraints and the sensitive nature of the property (among other things, there’s an active turtle nest in the driveway) some coordination of cars and participants is required. Carpooling recommended. Optional dutch-treat lunch at an area restaurant after the walk.
