Webinar: Demystifying Great Lakes Waterbirds In Flight
September 15, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
| FreeFor many of us, identifying ducks, loons, and grebes in flight comes with a high intimidation factor: these waterbirds travel quickly and seem just subtly different. But lakewatching offers some of Michigan’s most exciting fall birding opportunities. Join Alison Világ, who’s conducted Whitefish Point Bird Observatory’s waterbird count for three seasons, as she breaks down her methods of unraveling these sorts of identifications in a free webinar.
The webinar will also be broadcast live through the WPBO Facebook page or you can register in advance for the webinar through zoom at: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_eCFfQaqoRp2bQ71jmdc3AQ.
A recording of the webinar will be available for viewing after the live event has taken place.
If you have any questions, please email [email protected].
A recording of this event is available through the Whitefish Point Bird Observatory Facebook page or the Michigan Audubon YouTube channel.
When Alison Világ was six, her parents asked if she’d like to go look at ducks. Little did they know that day would be antecedent to a multitude of days spent looking at ducks, et. al. Both professionally and as a pastime, the pursuit of birds has taken Alison around the country and the world. For the last three migrations, she has conducted the WPBO Waterbird Count, and this summer, in the capacity of Piping Plover Monitor and Outreach Specialist, Alison extends her time at the Point. Alison received her B.A. in environmental writing from Unity College in Maine; she enjoys storytelling in many mediums, such as guiding, writing, and photography. WPBO has long been a pivotal place for Alison and the continued opportunity to contribute to the work there is an honor.
