Are you a young birding enthusiast looking to connect with peers who share your passion for birds and conservation? The Michigan Young Birders Network (MYBN), a program of Michigan Audubon, is here for you! Designed for young birders ages 13–18, MYBN offers an inspiring space to explore the avian world, build community, and dive into birding adventures across Michigan.

What sets MYBN apart? It’s a network for young birders, by young birders. Members play an active role in shaping programming, content, and activities, making this a dynamic and empowering community that nurtures leadership, creativity, and conservation awareness.

How to Get Involved

• Stay in the Loop: Sign up for our eNewsletter and get updates on events, opportunities, and birding tips.
• Join the Flock: Attend an MYBN in-person meet-up! These birding outings are a perfect way to make friends and explore Michigan’s natural beauty.

Join us for the 2025 Michigan Young Birders Network Meet-ups! Young birder meet-ups are intended for individuals aged 18 and younger and their families. Participants are responsible for arranging their transportation to and from the events. Additionally, any young birder under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Each meet-up lasts approximately three hours, during which participants can expect to see exciting birds and learn valuable tips and tricks for birdwatching and identification. There is no fee to attend; however, a suggested donation of $10 per young birder or family is appreciated to help cover the costs of hosting these events.

April 26 | Haehnle Sanctuary |9 a.m.–12 p.m.

May 10 | Mill Pond Park | 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

August 30 | Oden Fish Hatchery | 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

September 13 | Detroit River Hawk Watch | 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
